BLACK OPALS

Lewis G. Alexander

Listen to the rain

Falling broken on the ground:

Pity the sky once.

Lewis Alexander, poet of the Harlem Renaissance, once said that he wrote haiku out of his love for the form, for the meaning was written between the lines. This collection, for the first time, gathers together all of his published haiku, tanka and cinquains in one volume.
