Rabindrobath Tagore - Firefly Haikus
Flower, have pity for the worm,
it is not a bee,
its love is a blunder
Rabindranath Tagore composed the Fireflies cycle while he was convalescent at Lake Balaton in 1928. He had encountered haiku through his friendship with Yone Noguchi, and on his visits to Japan, and the poems were part-imitation, part-response to the form. This book features all of the tercets from Fireflies, with the original typography, and the lush ornamentation by Boris Artzybasheff.
